Parenting

Have you been running errands to feed your child? Have you been so vulnerable that you had to bribe your child to get some me time? Have you been sorry after you snapped? Have you ever been caught in a dilemma to say no to impart self control or to say yes to save your own mental peace? If you could relate to all the above situations… then relax! You aren’t alone.

Human species is the only one which does not have one particular protocol for parenting. We learn it all through trial and error. We tend to follow our gut instincts whenever we are in self doubt. It is all okay until things fall in place for the time being... isn’t it?

Less do we realize that each word, each action and each decision can leave an impact on them. Few may even remain in their memory forever. Our parenting style is perhaps one of the influencing factors responsible for whom they grow up to be.

You would have read never ending articles on “tips on parenting”, understand that everything may not go well with everyone. But there are a few things that you should be following irrespective of your child’s temperament.

Actions speak louder than words : Don’t just tell your child what you want them to do. Show them. Human is a special species in part because we can learn by imitation. We are programmed to copy other’s actions to understand them and to incorporate them into our own.

There is nothing called too much of love : There is no such thing as loving your child too much. Loving them cannot spoil them. Only what you choose to do (or give) in the name of love can — things like material indulgence, leniency, low expectation and over-protection. When these things are given in place of real love, that’s when you’ll have a spoiled child.

Generate Positivity : They are created, strengthened and “sculpted” through experiences across our lives. Give your child positive experiences. They will have the ability to experience positive experiences themselves and offer them to others.

Your Own Well-Being : Often times, things such as your own health or the health of your marriage are kept on the back burner when a child is born. If you don’t pay attention to them, they will become bigger problems down the road. Have a healthy life style.
