    Embryo Freezing

A method of preserving or freezing is called Embryo Freezing, which can be used in the future. Let’s see what an embryo is, ungrown or early development stage of any organism is known as embryo.

Embryo freezing (cryopreservation) is carefully cooling them to very low temperatures (-196oC). This method will be processed in the laboratory using specialized freezing equipment’s and safely stored in liquid nitrogen.

Amrutha Fertility Center is one of the leading fertility centers in Telangana that offers embryo freezing services. We have a team of experienced doctors who have successfully carried out this procedure many times. We uses the latest technology and equipment to carry out the embryo freezing procedure. The staff at the center is very supportive and helps the patients to feel relaxed during the procedure.

    How is it done?

Woman’s ovaries are stimulated to produce many eggs in the IVF treatment, and the best ones are selected for the fertility treatment, rest will be freezed for the future use, incase of multiple good embryos are found. In the future ovaries need not be stimulated for the IVF treatment again, as the embryos are already freezed. On an average 75% of embryos will survive the freeze cycle. There are stories of 10 year frozen embryos have generated successful pregnancies (depends on the quality of the embryo). Unused stored embryos are also great source of stem cells.

Each embryos are stored in a pre-labelled, colour coded straws along with the identification information. Hence it can be easily tracked and monitored. The frozen embryos are tracked 365 days a year, and physically checked for any problems by the Embryologists.

How long can embryos be stored?

Generally, no one knows what the maximum storage period might be. The procedures for human embryo freezing were developed in 1984 and only went into widespread use in the late 1980s. So, the longest time a human embryo had been stored is around 25-30 years and, typically, patients that have left embryos in storage for this long usually don’t come back for them. Some patients have come back after 10-12 years and the embryos have been thawed successfully and created healthy babies.

Embryo freezing is a gift by the science for childless couple for assisted reproductive technology. AMH-Anti Mullarian hormone test is been conducted to know the reserve of embryos in the ovary. Hence the individual can take a call whether this savings can be done now or in the near future.

    Benefits of Embryo Freezing Treatment

Embryo freezing is a process of freezing embryos for future use. It is an effective way to preserve the health of your eggs and to avoid the risk of miscarriage. The process of freezing embryos is also known as vitrification.

There are many benefits of embryo freezing, including:

    1. Increased success rates: Embryo freezing can increase the success rates of in vitro fertilization (IVF). This is because the frozen embryos can be thawed and used at a later date, when the woman’s body is more receptive to pregnancy.
    2. Reduced risk of ovarian cancer: Women who freeze their embryos have a reduced risk of developing ovarian cancer. This is because the ovaries are removed during the egg retrieval process, which reduces the exposure to potential carcinogens.
    3. Avoidance of genetic diseases: If you are concerned about passing on genetic diseases to your children, embryo freezing can help you avoid this risk. This is because the embryos can be screened for genetic diseases before they are implanted into the uterus.
    4. Cost-effective: Embryo freezing is a cost-effective fertility treatment option, especially when compared to other fertility treatments such as IVF.

    FAQ's

    What is embryo freezing treatment?

Embryo freezing treatment, also known as cryopreservation, is a process of preserving eggs or embryos for future use. The eggs or embryos are frozen at a very low temperature and can be stored for many years.

What are the success rates of embryo freezing?

The success rates of embryo freezing vary, but are generally high. One study found that the implantation rate of thawed embryos was 70%, and the pregnancy rate was 60%. However, it is important to note that these rates may be lower if the woman is older when she attempts to conceive with frozen embryos.

Who is a good candidate for embryo freezing?

Couples who have undergone in vitro fertilization (IVF) and have extra embryos may elect to freeze them for future use. This may be done for personal reasons, such as preserving fertility for later in life, or for medical reasons, such as waiting to see if the woman’s egg quality improves.
